Hi, I’m Carmen
I’m a cat-loving copywriter from Cape Town.

I love telling stories and my approach to storytelling is all about making a connection with the reader from the very first sentence, sparking emotion and inspiring new ways of thinking. Every piece I write is authentic, original and resonates with the person reading it.
Along with my independently-minded curls and quirky outlook, I also bring more than 15 years’ professional writing experience in the commercial, public, and charity sectors.
I write a diverse range of copy, but the result will always be the same – I believe words should entertain, inspire, and make a lasting impression.
I work directly with B2C and B2B businesses, and charities, and partner with design studios and creative agencies.
Fancy working together?
Now here’s the real bio.
From my days of writing for the high school paper and becoming a published poet, I knew that writing was in my blood.
I went on to study Journalism at the Cape Peninsula university of Technology and graduated with a National Diploma. While reporting live from a crime scene or witnessing breaking news has a certain glamour, I knew that my talents were best suited to writing human interest pieces on marginalised communities, highlighting issues facing women and queer bodies, and sometimes getting to interview the stars of the hottest new Netflix series.
I eventually transitioned into copywriting, and I’ve been lucky to cut my teeth at some of the biggest news and advertising agencies in the country. Over the last 15 years, my writing has been featured in some of the biggest publications in South Africa including News24 and The Daily Maverick. I’ve written blog articles, website copy, email campaigns, social media posts, created pitch decks, and more. You name it. I’ve probably done it.
When I’m not writing on a wide array of subjects, I’m out enjoying the Mother City in all her splendour, having great conversations with friends or checking out the latest at the box office.
…And then writing about it.
